8.7 BUY USED AND SECONDHAND CDS OR COMPACT DISCS
Unlike
cassettes or vinyl disks, an old compact disc should sound just as good as a brand new
one.
A
used CD will sound perfect unless it has a scratch or ding in the surface. If you hold the
compact disc up to the light, you can usually tell. Or you can ask an experienced sales
person to check it out. You also may be able to play the CD in the store. Make sure that
you can return a used CD if it does skip or hangup.
I
find that even main stream stores are now selling used compact discs.
Availability:
==Many
CD stores, especially in university towns will stock new and used CDs in the same store.
Always browse the used section first before you start lusting for a new CD which can often
cost $15 or so.
