10.0 CHRISTMAS DISCOUNTS
==Average
Discount = $400
Faster
than you can say "Santa Claus" Christmas will be upon us. Since this is a major expense
for many families, not to mention a very emotional one, planning is important.
Stores
make more money at Christmas than any other time of the year, for good reason. They are
charging full list price because you, the shopper, have a deadline. Advertising and sales
pitches often play to emotions and feelings of guilt.
The
more you plan the less likely you are to spend money that you cannot afford. And the more
you plan, the more likely you are to find just what you want on sale at an uncrowded
store. Experienced shoppers know that with enough time, planning and flexibility, they can
usually find exactly what they want on sale or at clearance and yard sales.
Plan
to buy just about everything before November. When everyone else is going crazy, fighting
the crowds and paying top dollar, you can be relaxing in your easy chair, knowing you are
well ahead of the game.

START MAKING YOUR GIFT LIST NOW
You
already know most of the people you'll be giving to. Get their clothing sizes,
measurements, and other preferences (color, styles). Find out which are their favorite
stores or mail order companies. Write these in a very small notebook you can put in your
glove compartment. When you see something Uncle George might like at a yard sale, you'll
have all the necessary information at your fingertips.
