#1. SAVING TIME

Just as important as saving money is saving time. Americans work longer hours than workers in other industrialized countries. Just like income and money, if you spend your time doing one thing you will have to save time somewhere else in your schedule.

For example, many people buy fast food to save time preparing food. This can lead to unhealthy eating habits and expanding waist lines

Having time gives you freedom and more choices. The more time you can save and the more you have to spend, the more flexibility you will have to plan your expenses. Planning is one of the best ways to save a ton of money.

If you don't have much time, then you will be stuck with expensive options.

In the next section read some of my tips for saving time. If you only save ten minutes a day (just like money), you'll save about a hour a week or about 50 hours in a year.

I think that this is perhaps the most useful of the family budget calculators we have put online. When I talked with a credit counselor, he maintained that most people got into debt because of unplanned expenses. Most of us live from month to month and then are surprised by a car repair, dental bill, Christmas, a yearly real estate tax bill and so on. This calculator will allow you to estimate expenses you cannot plan for such as car repair and medical (use a rough figure based on the last couple of years) and expenses that you can plan for.

This calculator will convert your non-monthly payments into their monthly equivalents and provide you with a total. In addition it will give you a detailed printout that you can use to plan your budget each month.
