2.2 BEST PRICES ARE IN THE SPECIALITY OF THE STORE - SUPERMARKET DISCOUNTS
While
food may be a good buy at a supermarket, non-food items are not. A store where I shop has
"Guaranteed lowest food prices." However, toilet paper, soap, and deodorant are very
expensive.
Stores
usually carry the best deals only in their area. For example, a drug store might have
great prices and a large selection of cold medicines but terrible prices on office
supplies and car oil. An office supply store might have great prices on envelopes and
paper clips but high prices on computer disks which are generally cheaper at a computer or
electronics store. And so on. The one exception I've found to this is Wal-Mart. In my area
Wal-Mart is cheaper across the board except in a few areas.
NON-FOOD ITEMS - COMPARISON SHOPPING
Don't,
however, try to go to five different stores each week. If you use some variation of
stockpiling, you may only need to go to the supermarket plus one other store each week.
This "other store" will be different each time because you will stock up there at the
lowest price with several months' worth of supplies.
