10.1 HOW TO AVOID SHOPPING BLUNDERS - BY DEBI DRECKSLERThough modern technology has vastly improved the sales and service industry...it is far from fool proof. Now, more than ever, shoppers need to be on their toes during transactions because mistakes happen far more often than businesses care to admit. With prices rising, consumers need to take the time and effort to comparative shop, taking advantage of specials whenever possible. Before making purchases, it is wise to make a list of all the sale items you wish to buy. Make sure to include a price list. If you saw an ad in the paper, for example, take a copy of the ad with you to the store. Once shopping, try to verify the sale prices before going through the checkout line. Get a sales person to scan the item, for example. In some stores now there are scanners just for public use so you can scan the product yourself. This will help you avoid a long wait if the cashier has to confirm the sale price. You also get to avoid mean glares from customers stuck in line behind you. |
