DRYWALL NAIL
Description:
This comes in two forms: one is blued and threaded, and the other is plain steel. The
plain steel type has a smaller head. Standard lengths are 1 1/8 inches and 1 1/4
inches.
Buying
information: This nail is used to secure drywall, also known as plasterboard
and Sheetrock.
How-to
hints: Drywall nails are meant to be driven so that they "dimple" the
surface. Then joint compound is laid on top of the heads. In practice, because of the way
the heads are designed, the plain steel nail is better. Blued drywall nails tend to cut
the paper surface of the drywall, which can lead to the nails' loosening, and they are
more difficult to cover with joint compound during finishing).
