27.0 CARDBOARD USES - DO-IT-YOURSELF - DIY TIPS
Cardboard
has got to be on the bottom of the list for most people when it comes to desirable
materials. However, I have seen closets made out of cardboard, sturdy furniture, even
cardboard boats (there is an annual cardboard boat contest).
You
can find it for free, and in quantity. Large boxes may be available from major appliance
stores. Cut them with a matte knife. Cardboard can be taped together with duct tape, or
glued. It can also be painted with a waterproof coating. You can make it strong by gluing
together several layers. If you cross grain these layers it will be even stronger. Cover
cardboard with fabric or paint it. If you disguise it well, no one may ever
know.
20
years ago, I made a small "light box" out of cardboard for viewing photographic slides.
Today I still use that light box.
