MORE EXAMPLES OF DO-IT-YOURSELF SAVINGS - DIY
==
Do electronic installation and repair.
You
can install your own small satellite dish, add your own interior phone lines, fix or clean
your VCR yourself. For example, our telephone company charges $60 per hour. For peanuts
you can buy a video and/or a book from Radio Shack that shows you how to do it yourself.
(You are basically just stringing wire).
==
Do legal and tax work.
Computer
programs such as Turbo Tax make filing taxes easy for many people. Other programs will
write a simple contract or rental agreement. There are also how-to books for uncontested
divorces.
==
Do your own dry cleaning.
Many
clothes that require dry cleaning can be laundered at home with mild (generic) detergents.
This is a good example of saving time and money. It probably takes less time to "dry
clean" your own garments than it does to wait in line to drop off and then later pick up
your togs at a cleaner's.
==
Cut hair.
This
is a good example of a skill you will use over and over. Cut your spouse's hair, or your
children's or your own. If you use a Flowbee recommended in the last issue, it is very
simple.
