2.1 REGULAR YEARLY SALES; DISCOUNT CLOTHES AND CLOTHING.The clothing year progresses as follows (with variations depending on the location) : -Jan. & Feb.: Major clearance (fall & winter clothes). -Feb. 1 (varies): New spring clothes, preseason sale. -April-May (varies): New summer clothes. -July 1: New back-to-school clothes. -Mid-July: Major clearance (sidewalk sales - spring & summer clothes). -August 1: New fall clothes, preseason sale. -October 1: New winter & Christmas clothes. == A rough rule of thumb Look for the first sales of the season about one month after the beginning of the clothing season. Swim suits might go on sale in June, for example. Look for clearance sales at the end of each season == Clearance sales Generally you will find these after Christmas, Easter, the 4th of July, and Labor Day. The purpose is to get rid of any remaining clothes from last season and make room for clothes for the next season. == Outlet sales Yes, outlets have sales and you can really find great bargains. January and February are usually for fall and winter women's garments; June and July for spring and summer women's clothes. August and September often feature sales on children's clothing. == Annual store sales Save flyers and sales notices during the year. Generally you can expect the same sales at the same stores the following year. She recommends the following: Look for clothes with the brand-name label cut out. This often means that it is a well known product being sold below wholesale. If you see Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren clothing on closeout, snap them up. They will last for years and never go out of style. |
