7.0 KATHY GILLIKIN; CUT AND REDUCE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING EXPENSES.Kathy has worked for a number of years at various retail stores. This article is from her experience. 7.0.1 CHRISTMAS SHOPPING AT THE END OF SUMMERBy Kathy Gillikin If
you haven't already begun your Christmas shopping, now might be a good time to start. At
the end of August and during September retailers are getting ready for old man winter and
trying to sell out their summer stock. They are putting everything from summer shorts to
beach toys on sale. Last year I bought short sleeve shirts and shorts from $2.00 to $5.00
each, a markdown from $7.95 to $19.95. I saved more than 75% on most of the clothes.
Many of us wear short sleeve shirts in cold weather as well as in the summer. It is very warm where I work even in the winter and I find I prefer light summer clothes on the job. These are more comfortable than the hot sweat shirts and tops sold during the Christmas season. I also checked out the appliance department. George Foreman’s Grilling Machine -department store $24.96 -fashion store $59.99. Osterizer 12 speed blender - department store $24.96 -the fashion store only had a 10 speed blender at 59.99. |
