EXTENSION SPRING
Description: Coils are usually close-wound, i.e. shoulder-to-shoulder, and the ends, unlike those of the compression spring, usually have either a closed loop or a hook. Buying information: This spring has a variety of uses, and the more coils it has the longer it expands. You can either hook the spring onto something, or hook something onto the spring. One extension spring has hooked ends 3 inches long, which is useful in getting into tight places, such as oven doors. Instead of having to snake in your hand and attach a spring with a short hook, you can fish in the long hook until it can grab on. Another useful extension spring is the one used on screen doors. The end of this spring has a cap with a threaded eyebolt and nut. By rotating the bolt you can increase or relax the tension in order to make the door close more quickly or slowly. |
