PLASTIC PIPE, WASTE

Description: This is black or cream-colored, depending on the plastic. It commonly comes in lengths of 10 and 20 feet and in diameters of 1 1/2, 2, 3, and 4 inches.

Buying information: The most popular materials for plastic DWV is PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene).

How-to hints: The main appeal of plastic pipe is that it's easy to work with. It is light and can be cut with a hacksaw and joined with a special primer and cement. If it is laid underground, however, it must be carefully supported by solid earth.
