HUBLESS FITTINGS, CAST-IRON PIPE PLUMBING

Description: Made of neoprene, these look like short sections of pipe. In place, they are secured with pairs of stainless steel worm-gear clamps.

Buying information: This type of fitting is designed to be used with hubless cast-iron pipe -- that is, pipe with no rims, just plain ends. Use for waste pipe only.

How-to hints: You can install cast iron using this method. Indeed, hubless joinery is easy and reliable. Note: Formed neoprene gasket fittings are also available, but the consensus among plumbers is that they don't work well.
