COMPRESSION FITTING, COPPER PIPE PLUMBINGDescription: This is a short, threaded sleeve with a compression ring and a nut. Buying information: Compression fittings are used only for joining water pipe. They are good to use where it may be difficult to solder the pipe in place or where soldering -- using an open flame -- might be difficult or where the heat might damage a component, such as a valve. How-to hints: Clean the pipe and then slip the nut onto the pipe. Slip the compression ring onto the pipe, insert the end of the pipe into the fitting, then screw the nut on the fitting and tighten. Use a small amount of Vaseline on the fitting so that the fitting and compression ring make up evenly. |
