HARDWARE CLOTH, MISCELLANEOUS HARDWARE
Description: This looks like rugged metal screening. It comes in various gauges and "meshes" or number of squares to the inch -- commonly 2x2, 2x4, and 8x8. For example, in 2x2 mesh there are four squares per square inch. As the number of squares per square inch increases, the gauge or diameter of the wire gets smaller. It comes in rolls 2 and 4 feet wide, and is sold by the foot. Buying information: One of the main uses of hardware cloth is in sifting sand, topsoil, cement, and the like. Another good use is for pet cages. Yet another is for screening where you want extra security to keep birds, bats, or squirrels out of house or barn sections. How-to hint: Hardware cloth can easily be cut with snips and bent to shape. |
