WOOD GUTTER
Description: This is standard gutter shape, but since it's made of wood (usually fir), the material is thicker than other types.
Buying information: Wood gutter is good-looking and can be used on most homes, but it is very expensive -- and heavy (five or six times the weight of metal gutter). It comes in 50-foot lengths. Every couple of years it must be coated to protect the wood from rotting and, of course, it must be regularly painted.
How-to hint: Wood gutter is very difficult for the average person to install.
