Buying information: A clevis slip hook secured to the end of a chain works like a lasso. It can be looped around something, hooked to the chain, and tightened.
How-to hint: Attach the shank end of the hook to the chain; slip on the hook and slide it along the chain until all the slack is taken up; it will grip securely so you can pull on the other end of the chain without the "lasso" pulling off. For example, if you were pulling out a tree stump, you could get a tight hold before pulling the chain.
