LIGHT (HOUSEHOLD) OIL, LUBRICANTS

Description: This is a light amber-colored oil in a metal can with a spout.

Buying information: It is used around the house for light machines (sewing machines), garage door tracks, door hardware, and other things.

How-to hints: Sometimes it is difficult to get the oil where you want it. A good trick is to place a straw in the spot, then dispense the oil into the straw. Another trick is to slip the plastic casing off type THHN No. 10 or No. 12 wire, cut a 6-inch piece, and slip it onto the spout. It makes an excellent dispensing extension. Or, invest in a good pump-type oil can with a long, flexible spout.
