OIL-BASE CAULKNOTE: Before applying any caulk, scrape the joint clean. Description: This comes in cartridges like other caulk, and may be gray, black, or white. It is a smooth, dense material. Buying information: It may be used for standard house sealing, but is particularly good for back sealing -- applying a bead of caulking to the edges of cedar shingles that abut window frames.
