32.0 CANDLE TRICK - DO-IT-YOURSELF - DIY TIPS
I've
been using this technique for so long, I can't remember when I learned it. Take an
ordinary white candle (the inexpensive short thick stubby kind are the best) and use it
for lubrication. It works on metal, wood or just about anything.
For
example, if you hear a metal on metal sound when a door closes, rub the two surfaces that
touch with the end of a candle. This should solve the problem. If you rub wax on a lock
and the striking plate make sure not to get candle wax in the lock itself.
Windows
that are stuck can often be freed-up so they move smoothly by rubbing a little wax on the
window and the sash.
