Women who wear petite sizes may find good deals on boys' belts, sweaters, jackets and socks as well.

At thrift stores the best buys are often in men's clothes. My wife bought a Brooks Brothers shirt for 25 cents. Look for sports jackets, cardigans, fancy bathrobes, and funky rain coats.

== Put your money in classics

Classics that can be mixed and matched will last for years. These are worth paying for. Buy quality.

== Try less expensive clones of the latest fashion

Some $50 outfits look almost like $1000 designer outfits. Women's magazines often feature these high and low priced versions as does "Oprah" on television.

== Try vintage consignment shops

Old fashioned quality for a reasonable price. Some alterations may be in order.
